Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot: Sudbury, Ontario Open To Applications

The application procedure for candidates and employers through the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot has been launched for Sudbury in Ontario.

The north-eastern Ontario city will initially target the mining supply and services and tourism sectors. Applications from any sector will also be accepted from candidates already living in Sudbury.

Officials have published a list of 20 target occupations through the RNIP.

Sudbury is one of eight communities to launch its website for the pilot.

The others are Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay in Ontario, Claresholm in Alberta, Brandon and Altona/Rhineland in Manitoba, plus Vernon in British Columbia.

Job-Offer Requirements

The job offer must be for a full-time and permanent position for a minimum of 1,560 hours a year and 30 hours per week.
Remuneration must match prevailing wage for the job being offered.

Employer Requirements

The employer must:

Be located within Sudbury or within commutable distance.
Have been in active business in Sudbury for at least one year.
Satisfy officials that efforts have been made to fill the position with a local candidate.

Colin Singer

Colin Singer is an international acclaimed Canadian immigration lawyer and founder of immigration.ca featured on Wikipedia. Colin Singer is also founding director of the Canadian Citizenship & Immigration Resource Center (CCIRC) Inc. He served as an Associate Editor of ‘Immigration Law Reporter’, the pre-eminent immigration law publication in Canada.
